As part of the preparation for the Wellington Trip, the Year 7/8s have been learning about our past and present

Every year in the weeks leading up the Wellington Camp, the Year 7/8s learn about:

  • Parliament - What is it? What are the key roles? How does a government work?
  • The Treaty of Waitangi - Why was it signed? What was agreed too? What does it mean for today's world?
  • World War One - How did it start? Why did NZ get involved? What happened at the Battles of Gallipoli/ Passchendaele?

All of this forms the basis of the student's knowledge so that when they visit Parliament, National War Memorial and the National Archives they understand more about it.
