Term 1, Week 5 in Review
A look back at the fifth week or the first term.
Reading
This week we were doing reading testing, so we had a few changes to our normal reading programme. We will be back into regular reading next week, with new books coming home every day if your child is reading magenta, red, or yellow books, and every second day if your child is reading blue, green, or orange books (on the other day they will be bringing home an old favourite). Don't forget to be keeping notes on your home reading in the log in your Home Communication book, once you have read for 50 nights your child will earn a special bookmark!
Writing
This week we had a few interruptions to our normal writing programme. We had our Swim Fun day on Tuesday and spent the rest of the week writing about something we are proud of/good at.
Mr Horn's cream into butter experiment will have to be repeated next week so we can write about it then!
Maths
We have been really enjoying making Maths Whizz a part of our programme. If you would like to begin using Maths Whizz at home you will be able to find your child's password in the back of their Home Communication book.
Kakano Swim Fun Day
It was a little chilly but we managed to get in the pool on Tuesday morning and had some good fun playing a bunch of games out on the field in the afternoon. Thanks to those who came to watch!
Library
We will be going to the library on Thursday afternoons.
Values
Next week we will be starting a new values focus, we are taking a break from the Classroom focus and will be focusing on Transitions.
What's Happening Next Week?
- School assembly on Monday will be hosted by the Year 4 Hub
- Mr Horn's student teacher Miss Natasha Garner will be visiting on Wednesday, prior to her placement at Oaklands School
- Mr Horn will be on ICT release on Tuesday morning.
- The Life Education Truck will be arriving next week, though we wont be visiting it until the following week.
