From the Year 7/8 Desk...
The Miro House Captains collect clothes and the Year 7/8 Touch Rugby Teams compete in the Turbo Touch Tournament
The student leaders go through a year long programme of leadership training. This includes things like:
- How to speak in public.
- How to show integrity.
- How to balance leadership responsibilities with their other school responsibilities.
The Miro House Captains, Sam Laing and Xanthe Simpson, decided to collect old clothing from the Oaklands Community and donate it to the City Mission.
Turbo Touch Tournament
The Year 7/8 Koru Games Teams have been training for a few weeks now. This includes all Year 7/8 students. Each of the teams, as part of the preparation, will have practise matches against other schools. This week our Touch Rugby Teams competed in a Turbo Touch Tournament against teams from Rowley School and Hillmorton School.
The Oaklands A team had many close, high scoring matches against their opposition. While the Oaklands B Team gained a huge amount from the experience as the majority of this team has never played touch rugby, in any form, before.
Turbo Touch, as the name suggests, is a lot faster than Touch Rugby. The biggest difference is that you are allowed to pass any direction.
