School fun day, Thursday 15 December 9 - 12am.

The Year 7 leaders for 2017 and the Year 8 leavers will be hosting a fun filled programme for the whole school on Thursday.  Students are asked to wear summer holiday attire including a sunhat and sunblock and bring a drink bottle.  Each student will receive an iceblock from a very special visitor.  At 12pm students will return to class for their lunch and they will continue to work with their 2016 teacher and class until Friday.

Summer Reading

Summer Reading 2016.  Keep reading over the holidays.

After last years success we are offering you the chance to borrow books over the holidays. The aim of this is to maintain and develop good reading routines over the summer break. Each student who takes part in the programme will be able to borrow 10 books . Take a photo of you reading in an unusual place and email to librarian@oaklands.school.nz. To be eligible: The children need to be returning to Oaklands next year have no overdue books or lost books. Have their parents sign the permission slip. The forms will be in the Library which is now in Room 13 this week.

Brown Belt Achievement for Andrei

Andrei is a Year 6 student. This is his story about his recent success. "I have been doing MMA (mixed martial arts) at Academy of Combat for five and a half years now and on Saturday the 10th of December I got my brown belt for grading. The next belt is black belt, I will probably get it at the end of 2017."
