Year 7 parents - Keeping Ourselves Safe Unit

Debbie Halkett —

The Year 7 classes will be starting this unit in week 1 of Term 4. Parents are invited to a parent meeting on Monday 24 September at 5.30pm in the Textiles Tech room. Constable Carrie Hamilton will be going over what we are teaching and the importance of the unit. Please email your class teacher if you are intending on coming to this meeting.

Keeping Ourselves Safe consists of a range of child protection resources to help children and young people learn and apply a range of safety skills that they can use when interacting with others.

What students will learn

This unit is designed specifically for Intermediate aged students and will help them to learn:

  • a range of safe practices that they can use when interacting with others

  • what they can do if they have been or are being abused

  • what happens when abuse is reported
