Meadowbank United Football Club - Mixed 5 A-Side Summer Soccer - Register your team now.

Games every Wednesday evenings @ A & P Showgrounds, 5.30pm to 8pm. Games will 14 min halves. Starting Wednesday October 9th and runs for 10 weeks. Team entries limited. Register on the Meadowbank Facebook page and enter by 20.9.19. Max 8 players per team Senior (18yr and up) $400 inc 2 females 15 - 17 yrs $300 inc 1 female 13-14 yrs $240 inc 1 female 10-12 yrs $200 inc 1 female 5-7 yrs & 8-9 yrs $160 a team (can be all boys, all girls or mixed) 

Summer Hockey  starts 25 October. The teams are 6 aside and play for 6 weeks. The cost is $90 (per team). If anyone is interested in playing and registering a team, get them to either text, phone or email me for a registration form which need to be back to me by 4 October.

Total Basketball Oamaru - Summer Training ProgrammeThis programme has been designed to enable young players (Years 7 - 10) in the Waitaki district to access high quality and specialised coaching without having to travel out of the area.

Former Otago Nugget player and Basketball Coach Mitch Mcrae is the Head Coach of the Programme. Coaching Sessions will be held at the St Kevin's College gymnasium.

Please complete the following form to register for the basketball summer training programme. The programme will focus on specialist basketball training, working on developing ball handling, dribbling and passing skills.

Space is limited and you can either choose to attend all seven sessions (two hour sessions) for $175 or select which sessions you would like to attend at $25 per session. Payment needs to be made before attendance at the session(s).

Empower Me Now - with Jessie Kendall (MSc.Psyc, NLP) 

Jessie Kendall, speaker and therapist, will be in Oamaru doing two talks on 15 October at St Kevin's College, sharing techniques to help improve mental health and wellbeing among ourselves and others. Kids session (ages 10+) - 4pm (Free) Adults session $10 (cash only door sales) 7pm start - see attachment below.

One Day Ahead Community Ride for Mental Health - Saturday 28 September 2019. Ride the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail from Weston to Elderslie. Leaving Weston at 10am and Finish at Elderslie Estate with presentations, BBQ, and lots of activities for children and families. People may drive to the event if they don’t want to cycle. They are also welcome to bring a picnic if they prefer that to a BBQ. It will be a great FREE FUN day for families supporting wellbeing and good mental health. 

Art on Bikes Workshops - Monday 30th September – Thursday 3 October - 11am – 3pm at St Paul's Church Hall, 7 Coquet Street, Oamaru.

Forrester Gallery are linking with the Waitaki branch of Forest and Bird to learn about endangered birds from the Waitaki, then create costumes for Art on Bikes. Bring your bikes and helmets along to the workshops at St Paul’s Church Hall to decorate and get ready for Art on Bikes on Sunday 6 October. Each day we will learn about a different endangered bird with the aim to create a flock. BYO imagination!

Art on Bikes - Sunday 6 October - 10am – 1pm

Cycle the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail from Weston to Oamaru Harbour, with fun stops along the way! Starting at the corner of Westview Drive and Whiterocks Road in Weston, an awesome crew is on hand to guide you on your way. There are art stations for decorating your helmet, and coffee available to fuel up for your ride. 
First stop: Waitaki Community Gardens – Make seed bombs for native birds and bee-friendly propagation, plant some seeds in the garden and hear Scott and Tracey from Oxford Bird Rescue talking about their birds of prey, where you may see them and the things you can do to help them.
Second stop: Takaro Park (in front of the Aquatic Centre) – Have some fun on the Sport Waitaki Bicycle Obstacle Course! Tahu Mackenzie from Paradise Orokonui Ecosanctuary will be facepainting, advising on Backyard Bird feeding and sharing the wonders of our native species! Tahu is also the co-inventor of the native bird specific cat proof PekaPeka Bird Feeders!
Your destination: Oamaru Farmers’ Market – Serving up delicious local fare and live music for the end of your journey!

Movie Night in the Park - Thursday 10 October - 6.30pm (movie screens at 8pm) - Oamaru Public Gardens (Craig Fountain Area).
Enjoy the greatest show in the Waitaki with the Waitaki Youth Council’s outdoor screening of The Greatest Showman! This is a great family night out with this stunning movie, also featuring live performances – live music, magic, astonishing arboreal aerial artistry, best-dressed competition and food trucks!
Come dressed in your best circus-themed gear and win prizes, bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic dinner on the grass while live performers entertain until the sun sets, then settle in for one of the most exciting movie experiences of recent years. Entry by donation to Waitaki District Youth Council.

Up and Away - Saturday 12 October - Four performances: 10am, 11am, 1pm & 2pm - Oamaru Opera House, 90 Thames St, Oamaru.
Up and Away is a playful and gentle theatrical performance created exclusively for babies. Two performers interweave elements of theatre, play and live music in a half-hour performance, which culminates in free play and exploration-time for baby audience members. Up and Away is performed in a cosy, purpose-made tent. Audience numbers are limited to a small group, and only pre-walking babies may attend with their grownups. This results in a calm, safe atmosphere and optimal conditions for babies to engage in the performance.
Up and Away has been developed by Cubbin Theatre Company in consultation with a speech-language therapist, in accordance with current neuroscientific research.
