A MISCHIEF OF CLAY: WORKS BY JENNY MILLER

11 June to 22 August 2021

Jenny Miller was a potter who lived in Oamaru during the 1980s. She brought fun and fantasy to pottery in Oamaru with no regard for practicality.

This exhibition brings Jenny’s works out of our collection stores and into our Vault Gallery to bring a bit of fun into your visit.

ROD EALES | PORTRAIT OF AN ICON: THE CROWN LYNN SWAN

26 June to 22 August 2021

Rod Eales splits her time between painting and teaching. Her painting interests have always centred around the history of New Zealand still-life, and Portrait of an Icon: The Crown Lynn Swan showcases this interest.

Through this exhibition Rod explores the narrative of the Crown Lynn Swans’ journey from prized possession, to junk, to collectable antique, all while considering our attitudes towards New Zealand’s colonial heritage. This core theme is represented in still-life images that are intense in colour, depth, tone and luminosity.

ŠÁRKA CIBULCOVÁ | KNOWN AND UNKNOWN NATURE

5 June to 11 July 2021

Šárka Cibulcová is a multi-talented Czech artist living in Ōamaru. Her work draws heavily on nature, reminding her to slow down and reconnect with the outdoors. Through her work she creates a kind of garden that she hopes inspires viewers to look more carefully at the world around them.
