Free compost workshops!

When food waste, or other organic matter, breaks down in landfill, it breaks down without oxygen. This produces methane which is 86 times more potent than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas. If food waste was a country, it would be the third largest emitter of carbon behind China and the United States. Locally we know that 20.7% of what we landfill is kitchen scraps and 34.4% in total is organic matter. That's not very good, Waitaki.

So, what can we do? We can compost! And we'd like to help you create great compost.

So, if you're new to the wonderful world of composting or just need a refresher, register now for our free workshops in May. See posters attached.
