Principal's Message

Debbie Halkett —

The last few weeks have been busy ones for various groups at OIS. This week has been no different.

On Monday we had a group of 17 Japanese students arrive for a kiwi cultural experience. On Wednesday 2 bus loads of students headed to Invercargill for our annual sports exchange with James Hargest. On Wednesday night our budding movie makers presented their finished films to the public at WBHS Auditorium and tonight is the Fiefia celebration at the Rec Centre. Life gets busy for everyone but I ask that you all take time to think about our interactions with each other. Are they respectful? How well do we use our manners? Is our choice of language appropriate? Are we being kind to each other?

I’ve been involved with several situations this week that would never have arisen if everyone was Acting with Respect. Please talk about this at home and perhaps do a few reruns if the opportunity presents. Rerunning a better way to approach things helps model and alert others to their behaviours.
