Kia ora koutou katoa, I would like to acknowledge all the students, the staff and the parent community at Oamaru Intermediate School. I know first-hand how overwhelming the start of the year can be, settling into new routines, and classrooms and learning the OIS way. I want to commend each and every one of you for the positive energy and enthusiasm that you have brought to the start of the year. Students are taking on new challenges and new expectations in their stride. We really value your support.

Reminder: Parents are required to report their child's absence before 9am each day. We have had a large number of students arriving late to school each morning. School starts at 8.45am. Please ensure your child arrives to school on time.

The Vision Hearing Technicians from Te Whatu Ora - Southern will be visiting our school to screen all Year 7 students for distance vision on Monday, February 19. If you do not wish your child to be screened, please fill out an opt-out slip, which is available at the school office before our visit. This free vision check is not required if the student wears glasses and/or is currently under the care of an optometrist or eye specialist (within the last six months). In this case, you do not need to fill in an opt-out slip as we ask all children before we screen if they fall into this category.
