Other children keep on learning while a child is absent. When a child returns there are learning gaps. The child may feel;
- the teacher did not explain
- other children know more
- not part of teamwork - in class or in the playground
They are always trying to catch up on missed work and activities. Costs to the child may include;
- feelings of social isolation
- loss of learning and social confidence
- reduced self-esteem

Donation from LJ Hooker - Oamaru
Once again, thank you to LJ Hooker Oamaru and Sue Gaze for their donation and continued support of Oamaru Intermediate School. This donation will go towards our library furniture refit and was accepted by Mrs Halkett and Mrs van der Sluis.

Year 7 Vision Screening
The Vision Hearing Technicians from the Population Health team, Southern District Health will be visiting our school to screen all Year 7 students for distance vision on 7 August, 2023.
