Healthy Thinking Can Change Your Life: Dr Tom Mulholland in Dunedin

OFS Insurance —

A man on a mission to change the way people think about improving their mental health, social health and physical health addressed a packed auditorium in Dunedin in August.

Dr Tom Mulholland, who spent 25 years in emergency medicine and eight years travelling around New Zealand with his pop-up medical clinic, discussed strategies to maintain physical and mental health in times of stress.

The event was hosted by Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust, and sponsored in full by OFS Insurance Brokers. All proceeds go towards Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust which works in the three areas of suicide, prevention, intervention and postvention, in the Dunedin community as well as nationally.

Dr Tom has had an enormous impact on the communities he has reached through his real-life experiences and by communicating his thoughts and ideas in an engaging and entertaining way. He shared many of his healthy thinking tools to assist people in managing their emotions, creating the right attitude and managing life’s stresses to enable them to lead fuller, healthier and happier lives.

One key takeaway was Dr Tom spoke about how much time and energy we can spend worrying about things that actually often never happen. He encourages thinking about problems as opportunities. He goes so far as to suggest if you have ten triggers a day that can have seven thoughts and outcomes then your life could go in 282 million different directions every day!

A big thanks to the volunteers from OFS who assisted on the day, and also to Life Matters for allowing OFS the opportunity to team up with them.
