There are a number of students who are taking holidays during term time, sometimes with just a few days’ notice.
All planned leave during term time must be put in writing well in advance to the Principal. The Attendance Officer also needs to be informed (email@example.com) . Holidays during term time are an unjustified absence.
The Ministry of Education states ‘While holidays may provide valuable learning experiences, they can cause gaps in students' understandings that are not easily detected. In the senior years, there is emerging evidence of substantial impact on students' NCEA achievements.’
