In assembly this week the winners were announced from the Year 10 Human Rights Festival. The Term 1 topic in Social Studies focused on Human Rights and culminated in students completing an inquiry project into a human rights issue. The findings were then presented on display boards which have been on display recently in the hall. Congratulations go to the winner Sylvia Milnes from 10Ch whose topic focused on girls' education in Tonga. In second place was Ruby Lund and Sylvia de Clifford came third. Further congratulations go to those students who received highly commended certificates including Emily Lokman, Ella Campbell, Asma Shahali, Sienna Nicholson, Aimee Fraser, Mila Rodger, Lucy Fitzgerald, Phoebe Ashdown, Ranya Perera and Matilda Hall. A reminder too that next week all Year 10s will be participating in the Marae trip to Puketeraki Marae at Karitane and that consent forms and payments are now due back. Students in 10Ch, 10Trk and 10Mgw will be visiting the Marae on Tuesday 23 May. 10Zol, 10Eml and 10Krc will visit on Wednesday 24 May. Students will need to be at school at 8.30am and will return by 4pm. Further information about this including a consent form and payment information have been given to students. If this form has been misplaced extra copies can be found outside the office.
