Pink Pony Club Bakesale

Phoebe Ashdown, Year 12 —

Last week on Friday, Amnesty International Otago Girls' held a bake sale to raise funds for Relay for Life.

Cancer Society Relay For Life is an inspiring community event that gives everyone a chance to celebrate people who have or have had cancer, and the people who care for them. The Relay For Life teams keep a perpetual walk for 12 hours, to financially give back to the New Zealand Cancer Society through sponsors.

Our team’s costume theme this year is ‘Pink Pony Club’, the baking making this hard to miss through all the pink and sparkles! We had such a delicious selection kindly made by our members, and it was a total hit! It was great to see the enthusiastic reception from the students.

If you were wondering what ‘Pink Pony Club’ means, it's based on the bright pink sparkly aesthetic of singer Chappell Roan’s Hit song ‘Pink Pony Club’ which we of course made sure was playing in the background. We are pleased to announce that we made roughly $350 which will go towards our fundraising goals, costumes and sign ups for the relay.

Charities like the Cancer Society rely on events like this to provide incredible services like transportation for cancer patients, cancer research, in-home help for those affected by cancer and much more.

We are so grateful to everyone that made or bought something as you are supporting a vital cause! If you are interested in helping us reach our current goal of $1500 dollars by donating to the Amnesty Relay For Life page, we have attached a link and QR code!

If you are not able to donate please share our page so we can reach as many people as possible! But most importantly please keep cancer patients and those affected by cancer in your hearts!

Lots of love from the team at OGHS Amnesty!
