On 12 September, OGHS sent a team of six swimmers to Hamilton to compete at the 2019 New Zealand Secondary Schools Swimming Championships.

The days were very long starting around 7am and lasting until 8pm, with a very short break in between, but this didn’t stop the team from producing outstanding results.

Some of our highlights were:

6th place - 4 x 50m IM relay4th place - 4 x 100m freestyle8th place - 4 x 50m freestyle

The relay teams consisted of Charlotte Hewson, Madison Wills, Esme Paterson and Caitlin Hewson.
Madi Wills: 1st 100m and 200m breaststroke; 2nd 50m breaststroke and 400m freestyle
Esme Paterson: 5th 100m butterfly, 6th 50m butterfly, 7th 200m butterfly

Otago Girls' was placed eighth all-girls school Nationally.

Overall the competition was a huge success! A massive thank you to our two team managers; Shona Paterson and Jo Gibbs. Without these two wonderful parents, the trip would not have been as much fun or as well-organised.
