Year 12PE Students Deliver Kindness to Dunedin Hospital Paediatric Ward

Mrs M Clements, Physical Education —

Our Year 12 Physical Education class put the value of community action into practice this week with an incredibly successful service project for the Dunedin Hospital Paediatric Ward.

The students assembled and delivered 100 care packages filled with essential necessities and small treats. These packages are a huge comfort for families who often arrive at the hospital with nothing, facing unexpected stays and stressful situations. The initiative was met with enormous gratitude from the hospital staff.

This project would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of local businesses with strong ties to our school:

  • Dana Ballantyne (an ex-girl of the school) from Otago Packaging Supplies

  • Aaron Challis from Port Chalmers Four Square

  • Soo-Wee Ong from Origin Oral Surgeon

  • Nathan de Clifford from Otago Cleaning Supplies

We are deeply grateful for your support and product donations that made 100 acts of kindness possible!

The students experienced the impact of their hard work firsthand when delivering the packages. They are pictured here with Tayla and Jan, both Play Specialists, and Shirley, the Charge Nurse Manager of the ward.

A massive well done to our Year 12 PE students for their effort, empathy, and successful execution of this truly meaningful community initiative!
