Aunty

This year for Gateway I was given the opportunity to work with a local fashion designer, Dallas Cunningham, who is the designer of Aunty. For the past five weeks I have enjoyed working in GUlLD, a local retail shop filled with local designers' creations. Here I have gained extensive customer service and retail experience. I've learnt about the importance of learning about who the designers are behind each brand so that I can engage with customers on an intimate level by telling them a little about who made the items and garments. The experience I have gained while on this placement has led me to gain employment elsewhere and a reference on my CV.

I still have another five weeks left of my placement. For these next five weeks I'm going to be placed in Dallas' home workshop, where she designs and manufactures all her designs. While working in the workshop I'll be helping cut out fabric pieces and she'll also teach me a bit about pattern making.
