Year 9 School Board Scholarship and Prefect Evening 2024
On Wednesday evening we hosted the Year 9 Board Scholarship and Prefect Evening, a celebration of the emerging talent within our Year 9 cohort, paired with a recognition of our dedicated prefect team. The event underscored the bright future that lies ahead for our students who are already demonstrating the qualities of future leaders. Thank you to Sarah Pushenko who delivered a beautiful piano performance and set the scene for the celebration ahead and to our student photographer, Neeka Wilson who captured some lovely moments. The formal part of the evening began with another strong performance by Wairua Pūhou. We were then treated to nourishing plates of food prepared by the accomplished Mrs. Sue Watt. Scholarships were awarded across various categories, including arts, sporting, academic, and leadership by our presiding Board Chair, Mrs. Sharon Knowles. Each award was accompanied by citations read out by our staff, highlighting the immense qualities and achievements of our Year 9 recipients. These citations not only celebrated individual accomplishments but also painted a picture of a cohort brimming with potential and promise. Mrs. Davidson addressed the families and students and reminded us about the myriad opportunities available to our students both now and in the future. Rata Williams, our head prefect, spoke about her role and commended the talented women coming up behind her. Her words of encouragement and celebration resonated deeply, further emphasising the significance of the evening. As the event drew to a close, each prefect shared their experiences, joys, and successes in their roles. They also imparted valuable advice to our emerging leaders, providing guidance and inspiration for the journey ahead.
Thank you to the families who joined us to celebrate, as well as to the teachers and support staff who made the evening such a super event.
