Swimming Sports

Praise Hola and Andie McGrouther, Sports Prefects —

Last Friday on the 12th of May, we held our annual Swimming Sports at Moana Pool. There was plenty of enthusiasm and competitiveness shown throughout the day, with loads of laughter and smiles as great memories were being made. The stands were decorated in plenty of red, blue, green, and orange showing support and pride for each of the four houses as the morning of swimming sports commenced. The day was a success.

The morning began with the competitive champion races where we saw lots of amazing swimmers shine. Many competitive swimmers were hitting personal bests and showcasing their talents. We were all in awe of them. The races were shortly followed by the novelty races where there were a lot of happy faces and competitive spirits, especially in the fancy dress race. The novelty races brought a fun and enjoyable opportunity for everyone to participate in and earn more points for their houses.

As the day went on, several students were more focused on earning house points by performing a dive or trick off the diving board. A number of students displayed magnificent 10/10 flips, dives, bombs, and other amazing things. In our annual swimming relay, the prefects competed against the teachers as the final event of the day. The prefects were too strong for the teachers to beat, but we commend and acknowledge the hard work of those five teachers who managed to pull through to the end. But I mean a win is a win!

Congratulations to Benjamin house for being the winners of Swimming Sports 2023, with Williams in second, Cruickshank third, and Allan fourth.

It was amazing to see the school come together once again and participate in so many events. A big thank you to everyone who participated and who were involved behind the scenes to make this awesome event happen. It was truly a very special last swimming sports for our Year 13s.
