Hedi Moani Race Unity Speech competition

Ms K Dick, Deputy Principal —

We congratulate Hala Taha on the outstanding achievement of winning the regional final of the Hedi Moani Race Unity Speech competition. The theme this year was " Ngā matimati nō te ringa kotahi – The fingers of one hand. We are wonderfully diverse, yet there is only one race: the human race. This is not just a biological fact. The wellbeing and progress of all parts of humanity are inextricably linked, like the fingers of one hand."

Hala follows in the footsteps of many fabulous students before her; Sashika Samaranyaka, Kelsey Brown, Crystal Diong, Izzy Jenkins, and most recently, 2020's head prefect, Jen Marsh. Hala won a trip to Auckland to attend the Race Unity Hui where she will meet like-minded young people from all over New Zealand and it is there where she will attend the semi-final and finals of the national competition. We wish Hala all the very best as she prepares for the final rounds in Auckland in June.
