Year 13 Physics

Ms A Lorange, Physics —

Year 13 Physics students have to write about a Physics concept called the Magnus effect to explain the different types of tennis shots (top spin, slice, ...) and how they affect the flight of the tennis ball. The Magnus effect is something anyone playing a ball sport will have some empirical understanding of, for example footballers putting spin in their kicks to make them curve. Year 13 Physics students got a chance to see and reproduce the Magnus effect on a tennis ball by demonstrating a variety of shots on the courts.
