Swimming Sports

Alice Moran, Sport Prefect —

On Wednesday 16 March, Otago Girls' High School held its annual Swimming Sports day at Moana Pool. The stands were full of excited and eager pupils, resplendent in house colours, ready to kick the day off to an epic start.

This year senior tabloids were introduced, which proved to be a huge success as the seniors broke the record books, with the highest participation rate to date. House points were awarded as the girls battled it out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Congratulations to Erin Ford who took out the Champion of Champions event, proving to be the fastest swimmer in the school. A big congratulations to Allan house who took out the house competition followed by Benjamin, Cruickshank and then Williams.

The day ended with the Prefects vs Staff relay. The relay was convincingly won by the teachers but there were many smiles, encouraging cheers and much excitement from the stands during the race. Charlotte and I were very impressed by the positivity and enthusiasm displayed by the students this year. It was great to see such a huge number of girls participating, having a blast and giving things a go - even if doggy paddle was their best stroke.

A big thank you to all staff and students for making the day such a big success and such fun for everyone.
