Celebrating Our Year 9 Scholarships and Year 13 Prefects

Cheree Henderson —

On Thursday evening, we gathered as a school community to celebrate the leadership of our Year 13 Prefects and acknowledge the achievements of our Year 9 scholarship recipients. This annual event is a highlight of the school year, providing a moment to reflect on the excellence, service, and commitment across all areas of school life.

Scholarships at Otago Girls’ High School are awarded based on excellence in the areas of academics, leadership, sport, culture, and service.

We were proud to present two types of scholarships to a group of outstanding Year 9 students:

Excellence Entrance Scholarships, which are awarded through application by Year 8 students in August prior to enrolment, were presented to:
Skye Wilson, Caeli Griffin, Ada Silva, Eva McLean, Annalise Miller, Cleo Tarbit, Lily Williams, and Ashley Kavanagh.

Success Scholarships, selected by staff midway through Term 2 to recognise students who have already made a positive impact at OGHS, were awarded to:
Eva Gardner, Georgia Dahlenberg, Kate Marshall, Molly Gilbert, Elzanne Hamman, Libby Norfield, Layla Wainwright, and Olivia Dickson.

We also took the opportunity to honour the service and leadership of our 2024 Year 13 Prefects. Their commitment to the school, their peers, and the wider community has set a strong example for younger students and helped shape the positive culture of OGHS.

Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients and prefects. We are proud of your achievements and look forward to seeing the continued contribution you each make to our school.
