Year 12 Physics students just started looking at static electricity today. The study began with some experiments to show how insulators can be charged by friction, and the effect of charged objects on insulators and conductors.

Students were asked to charge a balloon by rubbing it on their clothing or their hair. They could then make their hair stand on end, pick up small pieces of paper, make a can roll without touching it or make a tissue ghost fly.
