Healthy Diet Seminar

On Tuesday, 11 June, senior dietetics students from the University of Otago came to teach 9Gr about what a healthy diet included and the importance of eating healthy.

Firstly, they taught us about the five main food groups that our bodies require and what each food group consisted of, as well as their order of importance to give us a healthy and balanced diet. Secondly, they taught us the purpose of iron and calcium and where in our everyday diets they could be found. We were given pictures of food products that we had to sort out according to what provides us (or doesn't provide us) with either calcium or iron. Overall, my class had lots of fun with the students from the University of Otago, especially doing quizzes about the different food groups.
