Kia ora koutou

We are in the middle of our Blues season with a wonderful Sports Awards evening last evening and Cultural Blues coming up on Monday evening at 6pm. If there are omissions or corrections needed for any activity do get in touch as we have several awards ceremonies still to happen in Term Four, including Prizegiving on 2nd December. We were honoured to have ex-girl and Olympian Lucy Matehaere speaking about her journey in Sprint Kayaking.

Congratulations to all students who sat parallel examinations and the CAAs (Common Assessment Tasks) this week and last. The positive way in which students embrace these exams is impressive and they will receive valuable feedback to act upon leading into the final examinations.

The teachers continue with industrial action next week in trying to re-negotiate their collective agreement. Please read the Strike notice carefully for next week’s dates and year levels and make plans accordingly. This does not affect our Cultural Blues event on Monday evening. We will notify you should there be any changes as the week progresses.

Please remember to complete the Parent and Community Survey by Monday although we will keep it open until the end of the holidays if you forget. This is important in feeding forward into our strategic planning for the next three years. The link to the survey can be found here.

Consultation on the NCEA changes closes on 15th September and you can read about it and submit responses here. The new subject list for NCEA was released yesterday and can be found here. Remember that students already at secondary school in 2025 remain in the current system throughout their time at school, with changes only affecting students in Years 8 or below. These students will experience the new NCEA, starting in 2028.
