As June is pride month and this week is school pride week, the School Council decided to purchase an updated version of the pride flag on behalf of the schools' queer-straight alliance group (QSA). This new flag includes the transgender flag as well as a black and brown stripe to commemorate the transgender people of colour that started the gay rights movement during the Stonewall riots in July of 1969 such as Marsha P. Johnson. It is important to us that we celebrate our staff and students in the rainbow community and keep up with the changing times. Happy pride everyone!
