Otago Girls’ High School Annual Blood Drive

Emma Jocelyn, School Council —

The annual Otago Girls’ High School Blood Drive took place on Tuesday, 6 August, with approximately 24 students from Years 12 and 13 participating.

The Blood Drive is a part of the community work which the Otago Girls’ Student Council does, and this year was a huge success much like others before!

With three different time slots each occupied by approximately eight students, the student participation was awesome, and the positive energy from those involved was unparalleled.

The students who took part were taken down to the NZ Blood Service Dunedin centre in an NZ Blood van before the appointment and were able to relax with all of the other girls before making their donation. Most of the girls this year were donating for the first time, which made it a bit nerve-wracking, however, the experience was overall enjoyable! From Curly Wurly’s to Tim Tams, drinks to goodie bags, the hostesses and nurses at NZ Blood made the experience so wonderful for everyone involved.

Well done to everyone who did an awesome job saving some lives, and a huge thank you to Ms Joyce and the Student Council for organising everything! Another big thank you goes to the NZ Blood Service for making the experience great for those involved!
