WOW - World of Wearable Arts
At the end of Term Three Year 12 and 13 Textiles Technology students took a trip to Wellington to see WOW (the World of Wearable Arts).
Students worked hard for two terms to fundraise for the trip and were rewarded with a range of fantastic opportunities. Upon arriving in Wellington we headed to Te Papa where we took a tour of the textiles archives and afterwards most chose to look through the “Gallipoli – The Scale of our War” exhibition. That evening we met with students and teachers from Botany Downs Secondary College for a group dinner and attended the wearable arts show. Students were surprised and blown away by the performance aspect of the show and the calibre of entries. On day two we took a tour of Weta Workshops and Massey creative arts campus which highlighted many new study and employment opportunities for the girls. After a group outing to the movies and some free time for shopping it was time to return to Dunedin. All of the girls had a fantastic time and each took something different away from their experience.
