Otago Secondary Schools' Athletics

Mrs V Millar, TIC Athletics —

On Friday evening the 8th and Saturday 9th of March, 23 athletes from Otago Girls’ High School competed at the Otago Secondary Schools Athletics Championships held at the Caledonian Ground.

Julia Hodgson (Year 9) and Jessie McGrouther (Year 13) started the championships with a bang on Friday evening. Julia ran an outstanding 3000m, finishing 3rd in the U14 Girls race. Jessie threw an impressive 41.19m (a new personal best) in Senior Girls Hammer to take the title.

The winning ways continued on Saturday. The big highlight of the day was Emelia Adamson winning the U16 girls High Jump setting a new record with a jump of 1.66m.
