Welcome to Year 9
Last Thursday, we were delighted to welcome our new Year 9 students with a mihi whakautau, marked by a stirring performance by Wairua Puhou.
Following Ms Miller’s words of welcome, the first day of school was spent with liaison teachers and core classes, where new friendships were quickly forged. As part of their orientation to the school, the girls learnt how to log onto the school’s network and we were shown how to access some important learning and information platforms, including Google Classroom and the school’s communication systems.
Our Year 13 Peer Support Leaders also played a significant part in the first day, as they guided the Year 9s on a school tour and answered questions about the school. The Peer Support Leaders will continue to build relationships with the Year 9s during Friday whanau times for the first two terms.
We are very impressed with how quickly the girls settled into school and now that the timetable has begun, they are finding their way easily around the school. It is important that if you have any concerns about your daughter’s transition into secondary school, that you make contact with her Head of House so that we can address any issues.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Year 9 Meet the Teacher evening on Monday 11 March at 6pm, held in the school hall. This will be an opportunity for you to find out more about school routines and to meet your daughter’s core subject teachers.
