Lucy Merriman - Dunedin Airport

Hi I’m Lucy, and for the past few weeks I have been placed out at Dunedin Airport every Friday. As my Gateway placement I am looking at everything that happens in an Airport as I am looking at a career in aviation.

I have spent time with Air New Zealand which has required a couple of 6am starts, going out onto the tarmac and looking at the Jets and ATR’s up close, boarding and everything that goes on from landing right through to takeoff.

I have also spent time with the Dunedin Airport staff and the fire crew, I have learnt what goes on behind the scenes at the airport and how busy it can sometimes get. This Gateway placement has given me more insight to aviation which will help me with my career planning.
