Georgia Buschl from Otago Girls’ High School achieved one of the first of two scholarships ever achieved in New Zealand in Food and Nutrition.

The 2016 scholarships were announced last week and the result was a well-deserved one for Georgia. Georgia’s topic was “The effect energy dense foods have on the wellbeing of athletes at sports events”.

This is great step forward for the subject of Food and Nutrition, or Home Economics as it was previously known. Georgia’s success will help with the recognition of Food and Nutrition as an academic subject and also show that students gain rewards for their achievement at Level Three. The other scholarship was at Paraparaumu College in Wellington.

A big congratulations to Georgia for this outstanding achievement. She should take immense pride in this award as should Brooklyn Clearwater for her Excellence Endorsement in Food & Nutrition.
