I2I Ideas to Inspire
The Global Club hosted the first I2I talk and we were privileged enough to have Professor Paola Voci, Global Studies Director at the University of Otago, addressing us. I2I is an initiative led by our Global Prefect Farwa Nabizada that encourages our community members to come together and share inspiring ideas. It is very exciting to have these seminars in our school again, after a COVID-long break.
The talk was extremely well attended with students from different years and cultures. There was enthusiastic participation from the students as she challenged us to talk to people who are different from us, or who speak different languages, and to embrace our differences, instead of being afraid of them. At the end we divided into groups organised by home languages, and then some of the group had to go to another group. The challenge was to communicate without using English! This was a lot of fun.
She also showed us one of her student’s creative work that explored discovering and celebrating her heritage. We are really looking forward to hearing about her students’ work from her students themselves in our upcoming I2I seminars. These will be in K15 and everyone is welcome.
