Careers - Surveying

Mrs R. Bazsika, Career Education Leader —

It is great to see our Year 13 students actively engaged in checking out a range of careers.

Last Friday afternoon, Fern Stoddart, Emily Harrex and Nia Kulkarni went to visit the School of Surveying.

They had the opportunity to talk to a second year student (Devon Allen, OGHS student from 2017) and other survey staff about what they do and what surveying is all about. All students are welcome to request a career exploration visit to organisations within our community. We will always do our best to ensure they get the right information and connections, so that they can make sensible informed decisions about study and career pathways.

Interesting info Fern, Emily and Nia found out about at the Survey School!

  • Full employment for graduating students 18 out of last 19 years
  • High starting salary : approximately  $60k
  • Large demand for New Zealand surveyors - can easily travel Worldwide with a Survey degree
  • Very enjoyable outdoor/indoor work balance
  • Surveyors learn excellent problem solving and time management skills that makes them successful in any situation
  • Very high job satisfaction – Surveyors love what they do!
