Year 10 Camp: Building Memories and Skills for Life
Information regarding camp has been given to students. Year 10 camp is a fabulous opportunity to build lasting memories of your time in the junior school. Ex-students often remind us how much fun they had on school camps, and in particular the opportunities and lasting friendships made on Year 10 camp.
All Year 10 students will be participating in camp at the end of Term Four, from Monday 29 November to Friday 3 December. We encourage all students to increase their current level of fitness between now and December. Improved fitness levels will minimise the risk of injury, increase personal enjoyment, support self-management, improve coping mechanisms, and build resilience. Physical activity ideas to prepare for camp could include:
jogging up and down stairs
increase distance, time or intensity when out walking or running
using stationary bikes, rower, treadmill or cross-trainers in the school gym
walking up and down View St, Baldwin St
going out for bush walks carrying a backpack (Ross Creek, Pineapple Track, Mt Cargill, Frasers Gully, Flagstaff)
The school holidays are a good time to start thinking about the gear and clothing you will need for camp. Gear can be borrowed from family and friends, or take advantage of the many sales over the next couple of months. All camps will require gear checks of the following items:
First layer: merino or polypropylene long sleeve top and long johns
Mid-layer: woollen / merino or polar fleece jersey
Outer-layer: quick dry top and shorts - PE uniform is perfect
Waterproof-layer: waterproof jacket (must be seam sealed)
Woollen / merino beanie, gloves, and socks
Walking or sports shoes with good tread
Warm 3 to 4 season sleeping bag
For the tramping options, a 65 to 70L tramping pack will be required.
