We are very proud of all of our rugby players achievements this year!!

It was an exciting finish to the season, with our 1st XV team battling it out with St Hilda’s in the final of the Secondary School Girls 1st XV competition. This was a close encounter with OGHS fighting right until the final whistle, coming out on top 17-15. Our 1st XV were also successful in qualifying as the top school in the Otago region for the National Top 4 qualifying tournament. They unfortunately lost to Southland Girls in the Highlanders' regional qualifying match, and their attempts to make it to the top 4 ended there. The team can take away some valuable leanings from this experience and build on this for next year.

Our Junior U15 team displayed some entertaining rugby in the later parts of the season, making good improvement under the guidance of coaches Doug Hill and Duncan Trickey. It has been great to see new players taking up rugby, and making the most of the opportunities provided. We look forward to hearing how the team performs in the Year 9 & 10 Rugby Tournament on Friday the 1st September in Gore.

Otago Metro trials are under way for the U18 and U16 teams, and many of our players have taken up the opportunity to attend the training sessions and trials for these. We look forward to seeing how many are successful in their selection.

A huge congratulations to one of our current students, as well as ex-students, who have represented the Otago Women's Spirit Team this year. We are so proud of you all and look forward to watching your progress through this exciting pathway.
