Former Refugee Cluster Mothers and Daughters Hui

Ms K Dick, Assistant Principal —

On Monday, as we closed Freedom Week and Cultural Day, we hosted the Former Refugee Cluster Mothers and Daughters Hui. Otago Girls' is part of a cluster of schools in Dunedin that support our new New Zealanders from countries like Syria and Afghanistan. It was a real privilege to share food and dance with the women and their daughters from across the cluster. A huge thanks to Madiha Farid, our Cluster coordinator who organised the evening and was instrumental in bringing our Muslim families together to work with our very accomplished Amnesty leadership team. Thank you also to Renata Herrera Rojas who made the performances run so seamlessly. It was a very special night and we hope to see more of our families across OGHS join us in celebration next year.
