Year 10 Camps

Ms J. Nielson, Year 10 Dean —

A highlight of our students’ outdoor education experience is the Year 10 Camp, which will be held in Week 8 of Term 4, running from 4 to 8 December inclusive.

Students are spoilt for choice, with camp options ranging from tramping some of the Great Walks, to mountain biking, to enjoying some shorter walks and scenery of Otago, Southland and Canterbury. There will be approximately six different camps to choose from and more information will be given to the students later this term.

Regardless of the camp that they choose, all students are required to have the following items:

A quality, waterproof raincoat

Thermal layers – polypropylene leggings and tops

Durable shoes for walking

Woollen hat and gloves

Now that the winter sales are on, we encourage families to start stocking up for items of clothing that might be required for camp. All outdoor experiences at Otago Girls’ High School require these compulsory items so any items purchased will also be used in the future.

Last year’s camp cost $270 and we envisage a similar cost this year. Already, we are looking forward to the excitement of Year 10 Camp.
