Commerce Trip to Wellington

Miss E. Bates, TIC Commerce Trip —

At the end of August, 14 Year 12 and 13 commerce students accompanied by Ms Lynch and Miss Bates, spent a few days in the Capital soaking up the sights and visiting some important businesses.

We stayed right in the city making our visits to The Reserve Bank of New Zealand, The BNZ Headquarters, and Mojo coffee factory just a short walk away. It was fascinating to learn about the circulation of money in an economy at the RBNZ and to watch the production process of coffee. We also managed to fit in a visit to the Wellington Chocolate Company, Te Papa Museum, Trade Me Headquaters, and a necessary visit to Queen’s Gate Mall in Lower Hutt. We just missed out on a tour at Victoria University but some of the girls managed to do their own visits and start to envision their tertiary studies in Wellington. After an informative tour around Parliament we were fortunate enough to meet John Key and sit down with him to ask a few hard questions. To finish off our whirlwind trip we had our last meal at a restaurant on the waterfront enjoying the atmosphere and watching the Wellingtonians walk by. It was a fantastic trip for all with many of the girls not wanting to leave! Special thanks to Ms Ann Babbage for all her hard work and organisation.
