Otago Secondary Schools Swimming Championships

Rosa Van Turnhout, Student Swimming Coordinator —

Last weekend, the Otago Girls swim team competed in the Otago Secondary School Swimming Champs. We had some fantastic results and lots of PB’s.

The swimmers competed in two relays, and came first in the 4 x 50m medley relay. The team consisted of Andie McGrouther, Isabella Miller, Olivia McBride and Rosa van Turnhout.

Ally Ryan, Isabella Miller, Rosa van Turnhout and Olivia Mcbride competed in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay where they were placed second.

A few of the other highlights from the competition were as follows:

Olivia McBride - 1st in the 14 and under 50m breaststroke final

Andie McGrouther - 3rd in the 15 and over 50m backstroke final

Isabella Miller - 1st in the 14 and under 100m backstroke final

Rosa van Turnhout - 3rd in the 15 and over 100 IM final

A stand-out performance from Olivia, who was placed top three in all eight events that she entered. Isabella also achieved success in seven out of her eight events.

We are proud of our amazing results and are very thankful for everyone who came and supported us. We would like to thank our team manager Kyhla McBride, Miss Young (teacher-in-charge), and Mr Curtis for coming along to support us.
