Celebration 2022

Ms K Dick, Deputy Principal —

It was wonderful to be back at Knox Church on Tuesday night after the disruption of the last two years. Celebration's long history began in the 50s when it was a Christmas Carol service. Ultimately it is a joyful evening of school singing, inspirational readings, and stunning performances from our students in the Arts. 2022's theme was "Belonging" and sought to encapsulate the notion of inclusivity and diversity - things we are very passionate about at our school. For several weeks we have rehearsed popular songs from artists including Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Backstreet Boys which then led into our House Singing Competition on Wednesday morning. We were thoroughly entertained by our Year 13s medley which is always a highlight of the evening and they didn't disappoint. We also farewelled The Reverend Dr. Kerry Enright who has been a wonderful friend of our school and who has always made Knox Church a place for all faiths, denominations, and cultures to enjoy the best of OGHS. He is retiring this year and we will miss his energy around Te Ao Māori and his inspirational touches to our event. Thank you to all the staff and students who gave their time, commitment, and talent on stage so that we could sound like stars.
