Attendance Data

Mrs S. Porter, Assistant Principal —

This will be collected weekly by the Ministry of Education.

From Friday 29 May the Ministry of Education is asking all schools to send their weekly attendance data to them.

The purpose of this is to find out which groups of students and schools have been most affected by the lock-down and to provide extra support where needed. This information will be used to report to the National Crisis Monitoring Centre and to government on levels of attendance during the COVID-19 period. It will also inform and support Ministry planning for students and schools returning to normal operation. Please inform the school office regarding any absences. If your daughter is unwell, please notify Mrs Jill Grant (Attendance Officer) as soon as possible in the morning. You can use the School App Absentee notification, call 471 9727 or email jg@otagogirls.school.nz

If you use the School App Absentee notification, please be aware that what you write as the reason/explanation for an absence forms part of your daughter's attendance notes. This can be viewed on our system by staff.

If this is sensitive information, you may want to consider the phrasing and detail you provide via this mode. The Assistant Heads of House track the weekly attendance rates of students in their House. They will make contact with you if attendance patterns begin to emerge and are a cause for concern. After three days in a row of absence due to illness, the school requires a medical certificate/doctor's letter to be emailed or handed in to Mrs Grant. We appreciate your support regarding attendance matters.
