Experience Queenstown Resort College

Jenna Knarston Year 13 —

These past holidays Abby and I attended Experience Queenstown Resort College (EQRC) and had such an awesome time. Our trip started off with some nachos for lunch, followed by ‘Queenstown Quest.’ This was a fun icebreaker activity where we went around Queenstown in groups, answering questions and taking group photos in certain places. This was followed by my favourite activity of the trip, jet boating. It was such a thrilling experience and something I definitely would love to do again next time I’m in Queenstown. After this, we were taken on a tour of QRC campus and then given some free time. This was filled with shopping trips and a pizza run for dinner. We then found out what our surprise evening activity was - Fear Factory! Only one group chickened out (not ours, of course) but I think we all felt a sense of relief when we saw the exit door. We then checked into Pinewood Lodge where we would spend the next two nights and played some card games and chatted with all the new people we were beginning to meet.

Day two started off with a delicious breakfast. I had some pastries, yoghurt, a muffin and a mocha. We then went on a tour of Millbrook Resort, the view was outstanding and I would definitely recommend staying there one day. After this, we received some free time in Arrowtown where I got my much loved football from the bakery. We then crossed the stream for lunch using rocks that were laid out as a path; however, whilst we were eating, a child decided to destroy the bank where the first rock was, making the passage back much harder. Jasmin ended up taking one for the team, and went into the water, shoes and all, to help people across. We were then treated to a trip up the gondolas and three luge rides, somehow we all came away uninjured. Following this we had some free time so we decided to play mini gold which may have gotten quite competitive. We then hit up some more shops and watched some street performers near the lake-front.t. Overall, I had an awesome time on this trip and it was very helpful to get to look at a potential option for where I could go after high school.
