Camp Albert Town
This year, Year 10 students were given the opportunity to attend an outdoor education camp. There were many choices, one of them being Albert Town Camp. Twenty-one of us had the privilege of being chosen to go. We all had so much fun stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing the outdoors.
The first activity we did was a challenging scenic bike ride along the edge of Lake Wanaka, followed by a refreshing quick dip in the lake. On the third day, we got to have a go at kayaking and paddle boarding; during this, we kayaked around the famous Wanaka Tree. We also went on multiple hikes (Mt Iron and Diamond Lake); these were difficult and challenged us all in different ways; the views were definitely worth it though. Lastly, to finish the week, we went rock climbing at Basecamp Wanaka, testing our strength and abilities.
Overall, we had a week of new experiences that we will all remember and will be able to use the skills we learnt in the future. A huge thank you to Mr McGowan, Ms Munro and Ms Joyce.
