South Island Secondary Schools' Curling Championships

Emma Sutherland —

Otago Girls' "Sweeping Beauties" went through the Round Robins undefeated, qualifying us for the Gold medal match against Maniototo Area School.

Over  4-6 September, the South Island Secondary Schools Curling Championship was held in Dunedin. Otago Girls' "Sweeping Beauties" went through the Round Robins undefeated, qualifying us for the Gold medal match against Maniototo Area School. The teams could not have been more evenly matched which made for a very nail biting game to watch. By the end of the last end we were drawn 5 all and it would be our final stone that would be the deciding factor on who would claim victory. The seemingly impossible was made possible and the Sweeping Beauties defeated Maniototo 8:5 and secured the title of 2015 South Island Champions. It was a great weekend, and provided valuable lessons to prepare us for Nationals in Auckland at the end of the month.
