Inspiring the Future – Year 9 Event

Mrs R Bazsika, Career Education Leader —

On Tuesday our Year 9 students had the opportunity to meet and learn from a group of incredible role models from our community through the Inspiring the Future programme. We were joined by a diverse range of professionals, including civil and software engineers, an archaeologist, a surveyor, a midwife, a police detective, a member of the Armed Offenders Squad, and a firefighter.

The session began with our role models answering questions from the entire Year 9 cohort before revealing their careers in a fun “big reveal.” Students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine curiosity. They then moved into smaller groups, where they had the chance to speak one-on-one with each role model, gaining deeper insight into their work. It was an energetic and inspiring morning, and students left with a clearer understanding of these career pathways, the training involved, the personal qualities needed, and the key skills to develop.

About the Inspiring the Future Programme
Inspiring the Future connects young people with real-life role models from a wide variety of careers. The programme aims to broaden students’ horizons and challenge stereotypes by showing them the many possibilities their futures can hold. Through conversations and interactive activities, students learn about different jobs, the journeys people take to get there, and the skills that matter. It’s a powerful way to help young people imagine their own futures with confidence.

A huge thank-you to all of our role models for generously giving their time and helping inspire our learners.
