Acting Principal's Report

Mrs B Davidson, Acting Principal —

What an amazing term it has been. We have finished this week with the closing days of our Senior Production, a Choir concert in preparation for the upcoming Cadenza in Timaru in August, our House Haka Competition on Tuesday, the Portfolio Art Exhibition at the Art School running Wednesday to Friday and finally, Hautonga regional kapa haka competition on Saturday where Wairua Pūhou will perform at 1.45pm in the Town Hall. So many students, teachers, coaches and parents have supported our school in so many ways this term.

As you may be aware, Ms Miller has announced her resignation at the end of the year. She will be back with us in Term Four for the very exciting occasion of our 150th Celebrations, after which we will farewell her and recognise her ten years of remarkable service.

We farewell Amy-Lee Budd, teacher of Digital Technologies, to pursue an opportunity at CORE Education providing professional learning around the Digital Technologies Curriculum and Marisse Paterson, HOD Physical Education, to maternity leave. We wish them well and look forward to welcoming Ms Paterson back in 2022. We congratulate Mr Pickard who has been appointed to Head of Department for the Technology learning area.

In Term Three our focus will be on embedding our new PB4L focus of Ready, Respectful, Safe as we head into the final push for internal assessment at the senior level. Please refer students to the Careers tab on the landing page of our website where students can find helpful information on Career Planning and Study Advice. Encourage students to spend the holiday break relaxing, recreating, refreshing and re-setting, ready for making the best of the term ahead. Reading books is an important part of building literacy so please encourage this over the break.

Thanks goes to all of the teachers, staff, School Board, PTSA and families who continue to support our school and students so generously.

Ngā mihi nui
