Mrs Jaimee Cole Awarded the Prestigious Highgate Fellowship

Cheree Henderson —

We are delighted to announce that the recipient of this year’s prestigious Highgate Fellowship is Mrs Jaimee Cole, our Head of Mathematics Department.

The Highgate Fellowship is awarded annually to recognise a teacher’s outstanding contribution to the school and to provide them with an extended professional development opportunity that will benefit both the recipient and the wider school community.

Board Chair Sharon Knowles had the honour of announcing the award today, sharing insights into Mrs. Cole’s exceptional career:

"The worthy recipient this year is Mrs. Jaimee Cole, our Head of Mathematics Department. Jaimee attended OGHS from 1998–2002 and returned to us in 2008 as a long-term reliever, joining the staff full-time in 2009."

Mrs. Cole has consistently taken on leadership roles within the school, including Acting Assistant Head of Mathematics in 2020, Peer Support Leader, and Transition Leader in the guidance network. Her dedication culminated in her appointment as the permanent Head of Mathematics in 2024.

Mrs. Knowles further highlighted Jaimee’s profound impact:

"While possessing a quiet and unassuming nature, Jaimee leads with assuredness, dignity, and unwavering integrity, making her a powerful and positive role model. Her passion for mathematics is infectious, and her students consistently regard her as a highly effective and supportive educator."

In recent years, Mrs. Cole has led significant curriculum change within the department, ensuring that our Mathematics programme remains innovative and engaging for our students.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Mrs. Cole on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to the benefits her professional development will bring back to our school.
